Female Suspect Evades Law Enforcement Following High-Speed Chase from Southern California into Mexico
A woman formerly staying at a women’s sobriety home in California reportedly took a stolen van and engaged in a hours-long police chase ending with her crossing the international boundary into Mexico on Monday.
Auto Theft Discovered from Sober Living Home
As stated in a police statement, a another female, Nicolle Walters, 45, reported that her gray minivan from 2004 was stolen, along with her vehicle key. Walters, who operates two female recovery residences, named the alleged thief as Alyssa Wilson at a recovery facility in Thousand Oaks, located approximately 60 minutes north-west of Los Angeles.
“The keys were stolen out of my house manager’s purse. I arrived right when it was occurring,” she said, adding that the minivan is designated for the sobriety home’s tasks.
Dramatic Chase Unfolds Across Multiple Counties
Officials tracked the van about 19 kilometers north in a nearby city, where they tried to pull the vehicle over, but Wilson refused to stop and accelerated rapidly. She attained speeds of about 90mph on the State Route 118 until the pursuit proceeded into LA County. At that point, local sheriff’s deputies transferred the pursuit to the CHP once the driver entered the Interstate 405 traveling southbound.
“This one is very unique in the sense of the traffic conditions enabling drivers to continue to remain on the freeway and prolong this pursuit,” said a public information officer from the Ventura county sheriff’s office.
Wilson reportedly dodged all the tire-deflation devices tossed on the roadway by police, as seen in footage from above.
International Getaway and Aftermath Developments
The pursuit finally arrived at the US-Mexico border by 1.30pm, leading to the highway patrol to terminate the chase due to legal limitations.
Walters stated on the following day that the vehicle was situated in the Mexican city of Tijuana and that she was coordinating with the authorities to retrieve it.
“Ultimately, I’m not worried about the car,” she said. “I’m relieved knowing she wasn’t hurt. The minivan is replaceable.”

The sober living home owner, who has run Diana’s House Sober Living since last October, acknowledges that the journey toward sobriety from addiction and trauma is often non-linear.
“This represents a mental health and addiction emergency,” she said. “There is a need for more support. We need greater resources for those that are facing challenges.”
“The recovery process can be messy,” she added.
